The Road To Tender Hearts – by Annie Hartnett

I’ve been reading a lot of nonfiction lately. A lot of history. My granddaughter also reads nonfiction and she often asks me, “Why didn’t we learn this in school?” Great question! Later I’ll provide a list of some of the nonfiction books we’re reading or have read. I think it’s a quest to understand what’s going on in the crazy world and how we got here.

But sometimes we just need a break. So this week I’m reading something lighter and I’m enjoying the story and curious about what’s going to happen next. The book is The Road to Tender Hearts by Annie Hartnett. It was a book club pick. I’m well-known in this particular book club for liking complex literary fiction in addition to nonfiction, so they told me this might not work for me. So far it’s working well! I like the protagonist and the community the author has built around him. I usually don’t check reviews because I don’t want them to influence my expectations. So I don’t know yet what others are saying. Stay tuned.
