“The more I know, the less I understand.”
That line from Don Henley’s song The Heart of the Matter (1989) has long haunted me. The older I get, the more I recognize its truth. I think it’s why I read. Reading feeds my mind and opens me up to more questions. And more reading. And more writing.

I read the English translation because the author was coming to a bookstore near where I live, and the English version was easier to acquire quickly.
